Bridges

Bridges are fixed or removable artificial teeth spanning a space where one or more teeth have been lost.  The teeth adjacent to the area of missing teeth will be prepared for crowns in order to support the bridge.

Today, dental implants can often replace teeth without having to cut on the adjacent teeth.

Bonding

Bonding restores teeth that are discolored, chipped, cracked, or misaligned. This technique restores teeth to their natural appearance. The dentist will apply a bonding fluid on the tooth, place a tooth colored resin onto the tooth, then sculpt and polish the tooth.

Crowns

Crowns are made from a variety of materials that strengthen and protect the tooth structure. There are three types of crowns: a full-porcelain crown, a porcelain fused-to-metal crown and the all-metal crown. Your dentist will discuss and help you decide which type of crown is suitable for you. Crowns are suggested for the following reasons:

  • Severe damage from decay
  • An already restored tooth can no longer support the filling
  • Root Canal - after a root canal, the tooth becomes brittle and requires the protection of a crown
  • Bridges - when teeth are replaced by a bridge, the adjacent teeth need crowns in order to support the bridge.

Dentures-Full & Partial

Dentures are artificial and removable replacements for missing teeth. They are made of acrylic resin. Complete dentures replace all teeth and are custom fitted for each individual, while partial dentures are fitted with clasps to replace a section of missing teeth. With dentures, patients improve their chewing and speech. Dentures also provide support for facial muscles.

For many people, lower complete dentures are especially difficult to wear, because they are continually loose, with nothing to hook to.

An alternative to a removable lower complete denture is a lower denture supported by two dental implants. The denture can literally snap into position, and it stays tightly in place until the patient removes it for cleaning.

Extractions

Extraction is the process of removing teeth. Teeth need to be removed because they are causing pain, swelling, infection, cavities or gum disease. Extractions are usually performed in cases of impacted wisdom teeth, which cause crowding and misalignment of other teeth.

Today, extracted teeth can often be replaced at the same appointment, with a dental implant. This preserves the bone and gum, which otherwise is lost around the extracted tooth.

Fillings

Today, silver fillings have been replaced by composite resins (white fillings). After the decay has been removed from a tooth, the dentist will place the filling into the tooth, harden it and adjust it to your bite.

Implants

Implants replace a missing tooth permanently. A titanium post is surgically implanted into the jawbone. The post will fuse with the jawbone and after a two month healing period, an artificial tooth is placed on the post.

For front teeth, an implant can often be placed at the time of tooth extraction. A temporary crown can be placed, so that you never have to go without your tooth. A permanent porcelain crown is placed to restore the missing tooth.

Implants can also be used to hold a lower denture, so that it literally snaps into place. The patient can remove it for cleaning.

Preventative Dentistry

Preventative Dentistry is a prevention dental health program that is essential to keep teeth clean, healthy and strong. Through regular dental visits, your dentist will clean and examine your teeth, including diagnosis and treatment of early symptoms. Between dental visits, patients can use dental hygiene products and techniques to maintain a healthy mouth.

Root Canals

Root canal treatment is performed when a tooth's pulp (nerve and blood supply) become infected or inflamed. With local anesthesia, the tooth is numbed and the pulp and bacteria are removed, leaving an empty pulp chamber. The chamber is filled with a root canal filling material. The tooth may require additional protection and reinforcement with a crown.

Tooth Colored Fillings

Tooth colored fillings are known technically as composites. They have virtually replaced silver and gold fillings because of their extreme durability. Composites are made up of a combination of quartz resin and a light sensitive agent and come in different shades in order to match the color of your natural teeth.
